Seattle Restaurant Workers Survey

To better understand changing perceptions of the restaurant industry and proposed policy changes affecting Seattle restaurants, the Washington Restaurant Association invested in an online survey of the restaurant workforce. All shift-workers (non-managers) were invited to participate in the first ever Workers Survey. Workers from fast-food and full-service restaurants were included. EnviroIssues’ researchers and ei creative studio team worked to design and execute an integrated engagement campaign for this young, mobile, and diverse workforce. With employer help and support, the online survey was successful in reaching workers directly with a survey that was brief and easy to use. Survey takers were offered an online and paper versions of the survey available in English and Spanish, with other languages available as needed. Restaurant employers also received a packet of materials to distribute. In one month, over 450 surveys had been completed across Seattle.
