Jodi Jacobson-Swartfager

Jodi and her husband spent their honeymoon bike-touring through Europe for two months. Shockingly, they are still happily married a decade later.

Growing up, Jodi did not have access to many transportation options in her hometown of Spokane, Washington. When she moved to Portland, Oregon in 2000, her eyes were opened to the freedom and accessibility that a multimodal city can offer. She took this newfound appreciation for transportation and turned it into a career path, studying community development and urban planning to gain an understanding of the many ways in which transportation can impact land use, economic prosperity, public health and the quality of our natural environment. Prior to joining EnviroIssues, she worked in the nonprofit, private and public sectors on a wide variety of projects related to transportation, sustainability and economic development. While her professional journey has taken many turns, the goal has always been the same: to empower people with the information and resources they need to make healthy and sustainable decisions that will improve their communities and quality of life.
