If you build it, will they come?

Client: City of Redmond

Project: Redmond Community Centers Poll and Focus Groups

Community centers have something for everyone – and we want to keep it that way! As the City of Redmond explored renovating, expanding or replacing its four existing community centers, EnviroIssues helped make sure everybody got to weigh in on potential options and designs. Our team expanded outreach efforts to include hard-to-reach populations of renters and lower-income households.

We used focus groups and intercept, online and telephone surveys to capture community attitudes and opinions about community centers and evaluate public awareness of and interest in planning for new recreation facilities in the city. Survey results showed that the community centers foster a sense of well-being, promote inclusion and offer affordable recreation opportunities. We are excited to support the next phase of this project in 2019 and continue involving the community in planning for Redmond’s new centers.
