With new light rail lines and transit stations coming to communities all across the Puget Sound region, Sound Transit wanted to know if its construction communications were successfully reaching impacted audiences. And what better way to find out than to ask? EnviroIssues led a phone survey to reach residents and businesses within a half mile of each light rail project that was actively in a planning, design or construction phase. The customer satisfaction survey targeted four project corridors:
- North (Lynnwood Link)
- Central (Northgate/North Link)
- East (East Link projects between Seattle and Redmond)
- South (Tacoma Trestle and projects in Federal Way, Kent/Auburn and Puyallup/Sumner)
Following a thorough analysis that involved much response coding and crosstabbing, EnviroIssues presented Sound Transit with a summary report of survey results and results by region. These responses provided Sound Transit with customer insights and perceptions that the agency is using to fine-tune its outreach and engagement goals, specifically to businesses and households most impacted by construction.
